The question is though, will it pay off on television’s biggest night?
“This dark, pirate adventure series from producer Michael Bay airs on Starz, the red-headed stepchild of subscription channels”. It’s like asking what the end of a movie is before you get into it.
Other first-timers of note include: Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo), Constance Zimmer (UnReal), Kirsten Dunst (Fargo), Beyoncé (Lemonade), Olivia Coleman (The Night Manager), Melora Hardin (Transparent), Martin Mull (Veep) and Molly Parker and Paul Sparks (House of Cards). “Watch “Mr. Robot” simply for its beguiling oddness, personified in Malek’s outstanding, trip-wired lead performance”, Post critic Hank Stuever writes.

Downton Abbey, which picked up eight nominations past year but won only for hairstyling, marks its final season with a fourth nomination in the prestigious outstanding drama category among others.
If momentum leading up to the ceremony is any indication, GoT will be on (dragon) fire, after winning nine Emmys already at last weekend’s creative arts ceremony, which celebrates technical and other achievements.
Courtney B Vance, John Travolta, Sterling K. Brown and Cuba Gooding Jr. However, he (thankfully) put his hosting skills in his pocket and broke out a moving portrayal of O.J. Simpson. The People v OJ scooped four awards.
That’s because ESPN’s nearly-eight-hour documentary, “O.J.: Made in America”, premiered several days after the window for this year’s nominations closed on June 1.
As predictable as Emmy voters can be, they always manage to serve up a stunner or two at their annual awards bash. He and a team of writers have been hard at work trying to pick out the best of the best jokes so his monologue – and the whole show – will have you roaring with laughter. However, when it comes to lead actress, the HoC starlet Robin Wright (-150) has it in the bag – as far as the odds go anyhow.
Viola Davis in a still from How To Get Away With Murder.
“With all the nominations it has in those five categories, it’s going to take home at least three trophies, and break the record”.

The comedy category is almost as big a wipeout for the broadcasters, with only five broadcast-based shows and performers among the 19 nominations across best comedy series, best actor and best actress categories. He is followed closely by Master of None’s Anziz Ansari (+250) and Anthony Anderson (+400) of Black-ish. Also, the steady lampooning of the tech world’s sanctimonious hustlers on “Silicon Valley” is really … really … entertaining.
