Pink Ball Debuts At Australia Vs New Zealand Test Match
Australia hold a one-nil lead entering the series finale to be played with experimental pink balls.

Tim Southee is the only bowler in New Zealand’s current squad to be playing his third Test series in Australia.
Ahead of the inaugural day-night Test between Australia and New Zealand at the Adelaide Oval on Friday (November 27), Kohli lauded the two teams for agreeing to the experiment, despite reservation from several quarters.
When plans were announced for a $A685 million redevelopment at Australia’s loveliest major cricket ground, there was consternation in conservative corners.
“I think it’s a really exciting concept I can’t wait to get out and give it a crack”.
“As I said, it is a step towards something”. And as Aussie captain Steven Smith shows in the above video, whether it’s day or night, he can still score the big runs.
“People are voting with their feet”.
“As someone said to me years ago, why are we surprised when people go to one-day cricket and T20 cricket more than they do a Test match, when we put all the one-dayers and T20s on in school holidays and at night”, he told the Sydney Daily Telegraph.
Crocker said there appeared to be positives and negatives to the idea, which proposes all tests should start on a Thursday and finish on a Sunday.
Both Smith and McCullum did concede that, after two Tests where bat dominated ball with the average team innings totalling 338, the tables may turn in favour of the bowlers with the introduction of the pink ball.
“I don’t know what millimetres they’re going to cut the grass to, but I’m pretty sure it’s not going to be anything like the last two wickets”.
“We’ve worked hard at it and we want to do things that are good and that draw attention to our abilities in the industry”, Graham Packer said.
“I’ve heard a few players giving feedback on playing with the pink ball”.
“It was only the early part of last century they had unlimited days for test cricket, never-ending tests, they used to go seven or eight days”. We’re optimistic and possibly looking to introduce a round into the Plunket Shield.
“But we’re also not going to push him if there’s a risk”. “Hopefully [we’ll] play well for “Hughesy”.
“He’s had a tough time in Australia”.
“It did so during that [New South Wales v South Australia] Shield game, but it was a very good cricket wicket”.
How different is a day/night Test? “We are creating history”.

Ultimately it is all about maintaining the relevance of Test cricket, a format I was brought up on and one I continue to cherish.
