‘Pink’ movie review, live audience response and box-office collections

After receiving much appreciation for her performance, an overwhelmed Tapsee said, “I still can’t believe that all are appreciating the film so much and they really mean it”. “I try and work on the mistakes and evolve as an actor”. That is the way I would like it to be. “This was the essence of the film that we wanted to put across to the audience, without revealing the storyline”.

The National Award-winner will be seen playing a lawyer in Pink, which is about three young women fighting a apathetic society.

Amitabh Bachchan’s latest film, PINK, is winning critics all over, and even managed to get a decent start at the box office.

While “Pink” is intense, Shoojit’s own directorial venture, “Vicky Donor”, was a light-hearted film also set in Delhi.

“It is okay for men to cry”, he said. “It’s a state of mind that needs to be understood”. But when I was selected I was thrilled and icing on the cake was when I got to know I am working with Mr. Bachchan it was truly divine. This movie is being said to be a take on the patriarchal society and speaks about gender issues impeccably. This is when our filmmaker Shoojit Sircar suggested that why don’t I write a letter addressing my granddaughters and indeed, all the granddaughters of our nation. From Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu to other co-actors like Kirti Kulhari, Angad Bedi and Andrea Tariang, each one has nailed their roles. He went on to say that, “We all must work to make India a first world nation, a developed country”.

“Shoojit and his team went through a very rigorous research before formulating the screenplay and dialogue”.

“They are in defence or prosecution, and have the researched clearance not just from the CBFC, but also from the records of past real-life cases, from study of the legal procedures from different courts of law and through the discussions on court protocol with the legal luminaries of the country”. What the film is saying has been a point of discussion for the longest time in our society.

“Laws and attitudes are changing. That’s what this film is about – the emergence of the powerful woman”. So many people wait for their entire career to share screen space with him and I am getting to do that in my third film.

So now should there be a letter written to boys too? Pink does that, but more importantly explains it even better!

According to Shoojit, the preparation for the film was tough for Bachchan.

A burning issue of urban woman security, with a grave societal denial of the section under sexual discrimination, are hurled et its very core.

“‘Promotional activity’ is a debatable terminology”.

Recently, actor Harsh Nagar, who is making his film debut with “Love Day”, appealed via a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him to make it mandatory for theatres to play the national anthem.

“The many positives we received on the release of the letter, gave us strength”. My first scene in the film was with him and I had to do the easiest possible thing – just lie down and sleep.

“Amitabh Bachchan has a great sense of humor,” says Shoojit Sircar
