Pinnick challenges ruling sacking him as NFF president
But that decision was rescinded following FIFA’s warning that Nigeria will be banned if the court ruling stops the newly-elected executive committee of Amaju Pinnick from working and former President Goodluck Jonathan had called for a truce between the warring factions.

A High court in Jos has sacked President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick and his board, the court subsequently ordered that Pinnick be replaced by Chris Giwa at least till the next hearing of the case.
A court in Nigeria has declared the elections that brought the current board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) into office in September 2014 to be void.
Meanwhile, an NFF media representative revealed exclusively to LIB, that they have immediately filed an appeal to the ruling. Because this was all done on the same day as the judgement, the status quo remains, meaning that Pinnick remains as NFF president until determination of the substantive suit.
Akinwunmi further revealed that there is no order for the Giwa group to take over the Glass House. “In fact many of his so called board members have called to dissociate themselves from the matter”, he said.
Giwa has serially contested the election that brought Pinnick in office.
Asked why the court nullified the election, the rep said: “It’s the same merry go round since 2014 with Giwa”.
The FIFA rule, which states that national football associations must not be subjected to government control and that football matters be settled in the Court of Arbitration for Sports only, appears to have been broken once again by the country.
