Pinterest Talks User Stats, Making Money
Pinterest’s user growth rate has been slow compared to social networks like Snapchat, which has accumulated 100 million monthly active users in significantly less time.

Marketers now have a better understanding of the audience potential of Pinterest, as the company has revealed today it has reached 100 million monthly active users.
– About 70% of Pinners aren’t just visiting Pinterest, but discovering something so interesting that they’ve saved it or clicked on it to learn more.
Sharp said that the majority of Pinterest users are women but noted the gender gap “is closing a little bit every month”.
Based on the latest figures, Pinterest remains well behind Facebook-owned app Instagram, also a photo-sharing service, which claims some 300 million users.
The number exceeds the growth predicted in February by market research company eMarketer, which estimated Pinterest would have around 47 million U.S. users in 2015.

Pinterest, which released more data on Thursday, said the number of users have doubled in the last 18 months and two-thirds of the images that people save come from a business’ website. The more Pins you view on Pinterest, the more you can search for them from your phone.
“
People are planning out really core and important parts of their lives on Pinterest”,
Ben Silbermann, Pinterest’s chief executive and a co-founder, said in an interview.
The scrapbooking-style service has previously taken pains to avoid being labelled a social network.

“Right now the focus of the company is growing around the world, outside of the United States”, he said. As of March, Pinterest was valued at $11 billion after raising $367 million.
