The attacker who has yet to be identified was reported to have approached The Sun via Whatsapp to solicit the sale of 3,000 images stolen from the account.

It said the seller communicated using the pseudonym “Crafty Cockney” on an encrypted messaging service and sent sample photos showing Middleton being fitted for a wedding dress in advance of her planned 2017 nuptials.

A 35 year old man was arrested Saturday in Northamptonshire, central England, and is in custody at a police station south of London.

The news emerges as Pippa’s sister Catherine begins a Royal tour of Canada with her husband Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and their two young children.

In July it was announced that the 33-year-old would marry her financier boyfriend, James Matthews, 40, next year.

They reportedly demanded at least £50,000 and said: “This isnt [sic] an auction it will be a simple process of the highest bid”.

William and Kate and their children were due to start an eight-day tour of western Canada on Saturday.

Scotland Yard confirmed that specialist officers were investigating the case and tonight said that they had made an arrest. Both Jennifer Lawrence and singer Rihanna have had their accounts hacked recently.
