Burnett was asked after each of his past two starts if he was healthy and responded that he was. He will prove fruitful for the Pirates to strengthen their starting rotation or bullpen as they attempt to overtake the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central. The Reds also stole four bases off Burnett, whose velocity was down at the start of the game.
Earlier in the day when meeting with assembled media manager Clint Hurdle stated that he had a meeting with Burnett, something which is commonplace with the team but would not discuss what had transpired.
The Pirates brought in three-time All-Star Aramis Ramirez from Milwaukee last week. The Marlins main motivation to move him was seemingly for financial reasons, as he’s owed $8.5 million for 2016.

Pittsburgh placed the struggling 38-year-old on the 15-day disabled list Friday with right elbow inflammation, and recalled left-handed reliever Bobby LaFromboise from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Tabata had been designated for assignment by the Pirates, then sent to the minor leagues. LaFromboise made his one appearance with the Pirates this season, pitching a scoreless inning on May 14 at Philadelphia. Ahead of Friday’s 7 p.m. game against the Angels at Dodger Stadium, they must open up four spots off their 25-man roster.
