Pirates’ Sean Rodriguez Says That Gatorade Cooler Has Forgiven Him

Sean Rodriguez has issued an apology on Twitter for his actions in Wednesday night’s bench-clearing scuffle and for pummeling a cooler in the Pittsburgh Pirates dugout after his ejection. The whole fracas began when Cubs starter Jake Arrieta was plunked by Pirates reliever Tony Watson while Arrieta batted in the seventh inning.

Benches immediately cleared. In the scrum, Rodriguez bumped into the David Ross who claims he “accidentally” grabbed him by throat.

The Chicago Cubs’ return to the playoffs has drawn the largest television audience in the short history of baseball’s wild-card game.

He then took his frustrations to the dugout, where he used a Gatorade cooler as a punching bag. Rodriguez worked several combinations on the cooler before it tumbled to the ground.

Rodriguez added he “spoke to the cooler, apologized personally, and he’s forgiven me as Christ forgives all”.
