The north London club could potentially end the weekend at the top of the table and Pires feels this term could be the best opportunity to win the league since their last triumph in 2004, with the Gunners 8/5 with Titanbet to win the title this season.

The Frenchman was part of the Gunners side which last won the title back in 2003/04 when Arsene Wenger’s “Invincibles” team went the entire season campaign unbeaten.

“It’s not a decisive game as after this we have to play 21 games more”, he said.

Wenger confirmed his returned but admitted that he is short of returning for the game against Manchester City. Claudio Ranieri’s men have overshot all expectations this season and are being heralded as challengers for the title, with teams around them failing to keep up to pace.

“We have really established a good run so for us it’s important to continue that”. “We’ll assess him to see if he’s 100 percent to start the game but I think he’ll be in the squad on Monday”, Pellegrini told a news conference.

After managing to escape a tricky situation and qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League, Arsenal were rewarded for their efforts when they were pitted against defending European champions Barcelona in the first knockout round of the competition.

He netted 26 in the league last season.

Arsenal have been drawn to Barcelona in the Champions League knockout stage.

“But I repeat the same”.

Wenger already considers Cech to be one his best signings as Arsenal manager and says the 33-year-old stopper has the whole package as a goalkeeper.

“Sometimes that comes into my mind – it just makes me think that I missed him and how it could have changed for us if we had signed him in that period”.
