Pirlo has started training alongside new team-mates David Villa and Frank Lampard in New York and could make his debut against fellow expansion side Orlando City on Sunday. I want to help the MLS grow and play well.
“The only thing that is left to do is to really get to the right physical condition in order to play at my best”.
AS A BEARDED man myself, this is further proof that I shall never shave again. He added: “I’d been thinking about it for a couple of months”.
Playing in New York, a city he says he knows well and enjoys, in front of the huge Italian community in the area was also a draw, as was the chance to help a growing league like MLS continue its ascendancy.
“I’ve never needed to play for money”.
“I came to New York City as a player, so my objective is to take the team as high as possible, preferably to victory”.
‘I’m not one that cares for publicity.
‘We have a long way to go in the season.
‘Unfortunately with age, I can’t go back. I am not old, I want to keep playing and feel good. Every time you start a new adventure, the passion can only increase.’.
The 36-year-old midfielder won four Italian titles in his four years in Turin but opted to leave the Italian club and join Major League Soccer franchise New York City FC this summer.

“I think the biggest disappointment remains the Final lost with Milan in Istanbul, even though I was upset against Barcelona because I realised it would be my last Champions League Final”.
