Pistorius appeal date set for November 3
The South African state’s appeal against Oscar Pistorius’ culpable homicide conviction will be heard on November 3. He said he thought an intruder was hiding in the cubicle.

Gerrie Nel argued last year that Pistorius must have known his actions would lead to the death of the person behind the door and called his five-year jail term “shockingly inappropriate”. During sentencing, Judge Thokozile Masipa said the state had failed to prove Pistorius intended to kill when he fired.
The National Prosecuting Authority want the Supreme Court of Appeal to overturn Pistorius’s conviction and instead convict him of murder.
Judges Lex Mpati, Nonkosi Mhlantla, Eric Leach, Steven Majiedt and Elizabeth Baartman will hear the appeal, reports ewn.co.za on Tuesday.
PISTORIUS, who is serving a five-year prison sentence in Pretoria, was found guilty of manslaughter for shooting dead his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on February 14, 2013.
Pistorius was due to be allowed out of jail on parole in August, but South Africa’s justice minister made a last-minute intervention blocking his release.

Masutha referred the case to a parole review board, which is expected to hold a hearing next month.
