Best guesses have the man known as “Blade Runner” released Friday after serving only 1/6 of his sentencing.

Their views were overruled when the parole board decreed that Pistorius was eligible for house arrest because of his good behaviour. Meanwhile, the defence team of Pistorius have until September 17 to file their response which will further be heard by the court in November. He made history in 2012 when he became the first amputee runner to compete in the Olympics.

He is due to be released on parole on Friday after 10 months in jail and is expected to wear a tracking tag. Instead, he was just found guilty of culpable homicide, which is not the same as murder in accordance to the South African law.

Pistorius was sentenced to five years but will be freed in accordance with guidelines for non-dangerous inmates.

On Valentine’s Day in 2013, he killed his girlfriend when he fired four shots through a locked bathroom door at his Pretoria home.
