The Mercury News reported that two men were busted for trying to rob Canseco’s vehicle, which was in the parking lot of a Hampton Inn in Pittsburg, an industrial city east of San Francisco.

Officials said the break-in took place outside of a Pittsburg hotel where Canseco, 52, has been staying while playing for the Pittsburg Diamonds of the Independent League.

Canseco, now playing the rest of the season for the independent league Pittsburg Diamonds, was at the Hampton Inn at 1201 California Avenue, when police were called there by the hotel manager around 3:30 a.m.

Officers found Verduzco in the parking lot and linked him to a vehicle in the parking lot that had been stolen from Antioch. That auto was later determined to also be stolen. Both suspects had outstanding warrants for their arrest.

The two were booked into county jail on warrants, and additional charges of burglary, officials said.
