Former Oakland A’s baseball player Jose Canseco, who signed recently with the Pittsburg Diamonds independent professional team, had his vehicle burglarized early Wednesday morning in a parking lot of a Pittsburg hotel, police said.

The Mercury News reported that two men were busted for trying to rob Canseco’s vehicle, which was in the parking lot of a Hampton Inn in Pittsburg, an industrial city east of San Francisco.
Officials said the break-in took place outside of a Pittsburg hotel where Canseco, 52, has been staying while playing for the Pittsburg Diamonds of the Independent League.
Canseco, now playing the rest of the season for the independent league Pittsburg Diamonds, was at the Hampton Inn at 1201 California Avenue, when police were called there by the hotel manager around 3:30 a.m.
Officers found Verduzco in the parking lot and linked him to a vehicle in the parking lot that had been stolen from Antioch. That auto was later determined to also be stolen. Both suspects had outstanding warrants for their arrest.
The two were booked into county jail on warrants, and additional charges of burglary, officials said.

Canseco said on Twitter that the officers knocked on his hotel door around 4:30 a.m. and asked him to come identify his property. “2 guys broke into my suv and stole my bats.i still got it lol”.
