Pittsburgh Pirates fall in NL Wild Card game to Cubs

These Chicago Cubs are supposed to be too young to be here.

The inning ended without incident, and the Cubs continued to lead.

On Wednesday night, Chicago’s ace right-hander dominated the Pirates, 4-0, knocking out Pittsburgh in the one game National League wild-card playoff game.

Kyle Schwarber was the main event, however. “The two home runs were bad”, he said.

Jake Arrieta said the Pirates’ fans plans to rattle him wouldn’t work. Molina was questionable for this upcoming best-of-five set but was reportedly taking a few swings, catching, and throwing according to Cardinals.com.

“They’re accountable to the moment”, Maddon said of his rookies.

Pirates’ fan Mark Lamendola, of Mt. Lebanon, cheers on the team during the Wildcard game against the Chicago Cubs. Pittsburgh loaded the bases with one out behind a single, a hit batter and an error. He wasn’t bothered one bit.

PhotoCubs pitcher Jake Arrieta warmed up before a game against the Pirates on September 27. His numbers are unreal, when looked at from a mere human standpoint. Cole also finished with one of his worst outings of the season, finishing with a 7.20 ERA for the game.

Boaters take in the Wild Card game from the Allegheny River Wednesday night outside of PNC Park. His two run blast put the Cubs up 3-0.

Just not good enough to head to St. Louis.

In the top of the fifth, Dexter Fowler collected his third hit of the night.

Injured Pirates Jung Ho Kang waves a towel as he is introduced with the rest of the Bucs before the NL Wild Card game at PNC Park. It was the Cubs first postseason win since game 4 of the 2003 NLCS and it broke a streak of nine straight losses. The game was firmly in the hands of Arrieta and the Chicago Cubs. The benches cleared and later Sean Rodriguez was ejected and while both teams got in each other’s faces, it did not turn into an all-out brawl and the sides were eventually calmed down.

To further twist the knife, Arrieta stole second. The Pirates offense stranded five men, and went just 1/2 with runners in scoring position (or 0/2, depending on what the McCutchen ground ball in the sixth is scored as). Kang will stay in Pittsburgh indefinitely to continue his rehab, but the Pirates hope he will be able to return home for at least part of the offseason. In a statement from The New York Times, he was emotional and spent. I spent the entire day yesterday telling myself that, no matter what happened in Pittsburgh, nothing could lessen the accomplishment that this 2015 season has been. “This atmosphere, the energy, it was unbelievable”.
