Pixel, Pixel XL Expected At Google Event On October 4

We won’t be seeing Nexus smartphones this year, and instead Google is widely believed to be rebranding its smartphones to Pixel. Though Google’s rolling out of the Android Nougat 7.1 OS comes as a surprise as the company rolls out the new Operating System at the time of the launch of the new Nexus.

Although Google will have designed the new phones, many tech pundits reckon it will be built by the Taiwanese manufacturer HTC. The International models (which are the ones you will most likely buy) do not include CDMA connectivity, and slightly different LTE brands. A fresh batch of photos appears to show the rumored Pixel and Pixel XL in action, offering out best look yet at the upcoming devices.

Several reports over the past few months have speculated Google will nix its Nexus smartphone brand name this year in favor of a new lineup of Pixel handsets. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm chip that is clocked at 1.59GHz with four cores, but there is no news on the type of Qualcomm processor Google has used. Two phones are expected to be released and they are being called Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL. It will support full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels whereas Pixel XL will come with 5.5-inch screen that will support Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.

Also, as expected, Google will likely drop the “Nexus” smartphone line to start a new one. Moreover, Google recently revealed the mobile virtual reality platform Daydream VR and the Google Assistant compatible device, Google Home, at Google I/O. The Pixel and Pixel XL are expected to be launched on the 4th of October.
