The chaotic crash scene that unfolded in central Fort Greene, Brooklyn, early Sunday evening was not enough to faze one witness, who – according to surveillance video obtained by DNAinfo – casually finished eating her pizza slice as she strolled away from the scene.
Witnesses say Sewell’s Chevy Suburban jumped the curb when he swerved because a bus had slowed down.
The 30-year-old woman, identified as Victoria Nicodemus, of Brooklyn, was taken to Brooklyn Hospital Center after the 5:15 p.m. accident at the intersection of South Portland Avenue and Fulton Street.
The bystander looks at the crash for just a few seconds before turning around and walking away, taking a bite of pizza as others rushed to help.
The driver, 39 year-old Marlon Sewell, is facing charges of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
A security video shows the pizza-eating woman walking down the sidewalk.
“She was the love of his life”, Nicodemus’ brother Peter Miller, 47, of Mount Vernon, told the Daily News. She was pronounced dead at the hospital. “She was the light of our lives”.
Three other people were hospitalized with minor injuries after also being hit, officials said.
Aaron Berger/for New York Daily News Police take the suspected driver into custody at the crash scene.
