Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump will take the same stage for the first time Wednesday night, aiming to position themselves as best prepared to lead in turbulent times and warning that their opponent would put the country at risk.

“I think my single greatest asset, of any assets I have, is my temperament”, Mr Trump declared in North Carolina on Tuesday, fighting to undercut arguments that his erratic disposition is a major liability. “If you really do believe this President was born in Kenya, then I’m not so sure I want you to be my President”.
The poll shows that, if the election were held today, 40 percent would vote for Donald Trump and 42 percent for Hillary Clinton.
The enthusiasm from women across the state tells me one thing: “we will be sending Hillary Clinton to the White House this fall to continue fighting for women and girls”. He’s zeroed in on her controversial email practices at the State Department, calling her private email server “reckless”.
“Steadiness, an absolute rock steadiness, mixed with strength to make the hard decisions”, she said.
“Under the leadership of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, the generals have been reduced to rubble, they have been reduced to a point where it’s embarrassing for our country”, said Trump, adding that WWII general George Patton would be “spinning in his grave” or the inability to combat ISIS.
Clinton began the NBC forum saying her long experience in government as a USA senator and secretary of state made her uniquely qualified to serve as president.
Clinton supporters and campaign officials immediately responded that Trump’s remarks were discriminatory.

For her part Clinton pointed out Tuesday that the electorate knows that they can not count on Trump to protect the United States and its military forces, because they see him as a danger for the country. Both are down from April, when 43 percent said Trump and 46 percent said Clinton.
Clinton said she regretted her decision as a USA senator from NY to vote in favor of the 2003 Iraq war and said Trump had been in favor of it as well. Trump expressed support for the cuts in interviews in 2013 – even describing them as too small – but seemed to suggest at the time that military spending should be exempt, undermining the sequester premise.

As for how he would pay for it, Trump insisted on Wednesday that he would fully offset the costs of his new spending through savings and new revenue.
