Police are attending the serious incident at CarFest at Oulton Park in Cheshire, an event organised by the new Top Gear presenter to support BBC Children in Need.
“Big, black plumes of smoke have gone up behind the trees and all the emergency vehicles from the circuit have raced up towards it”.
There is no confirmation of any injuries or the type of plane involved.
Twitter user Mark Dowling shared this picture from the scene seconds after the incident.
The festival, which includes vehicle displays at the nearby racetrack, music, entertainment and family fun, is being hosted by Radio DJ Chris Evans.

Witness Neil McHue said the accident happened during a “dual aerobatics display” when the planes were doing “some spirals when one seemed to lose control and crashed just north of the circuit”. Crowd looks glum, confused, concerned.
