Pilots cut the power and the fire immediately went out.
The plane was being moved to the gate so people could board.
Witnesses shared their photos on social media Friday morning, showing flames erupting from the tail of the plane.
Officials with the Nashville worldwide Airport said the Skywest aircraft was a Delta flight headed to Cincinnati.
“Within five to 10 seconds the fire went out on its own”, Taylor, 31, tells the Tennessean. “You don’t often see fires on planes”. “It extinguished pretty quickly and some emergency personnel arrived”.
“The ball of fire lasted for several seconds”, he said.
