Planning makes flawless for Dyche as Clarets stun Liverpool
The Wales global missed the first half of Burnley’s previous top-flight campaign with a knee injury which hampered his progress when he eventually came back but, after a confidence-boosting Euro 2016, the big frontman took Burnley’s first Premier League goal against Liverpool – and their first in the league in six matches – well.

“We spoke to the players about the realities of the division – they’re a fine side, make no mistake, they have players who keep the ball, their pressing”.
And as they continued to press for an equaliser, Liverpool left themselves exposed at the back, allowing Burnley to take full advantage.
“We had the ball, but at the end, you have to do better”.
“Some of the performances were outstanding, Dean Marney was outstanding, the back four in general, the shape and diligence to work as a team, and work to get something from the game”.
“But even at half time I had the feeling that there was still a lot in this game for us”. I don’t think we deserved to lose last week and it was important to make it right this week.
Liverpool will play Premier League champions Leicester City in their first Premier League game of the season at an expanded Anfield.
“In the last moments, we were not where we should have been and that was a little bit of the problem, in the box, around the box”.
“Vokes’s was a hell of a finish and it was terrifi c from Andre, a lovely slide of a finish”.
The Reds lost 2-0 at Burnley, as they were punished for a series of mistakes, including losing possession for Sam Vokes’ second-minute opener as they tried to play out from the back.
“Possession doesn’t win you games”, Dyche said.
“Leicester proved that wasn’t the case a year ago”. I saw crosses – really good crosses – when nobody was in the box. “You need luck if that happens, and you don’t always get that”.

Burnley, by contrast, were more efficient and clinical with the ball, and patient, tenacious and committed without it, which was most of the time.
