Plateau State Records Four New Cases Of Lassa Fever
The disclosure of the health commissioner came during a briefing of journalists after a meeting with senior health officials and development partners which deliberated on the lassa fever case.

Plateau Government on Monday said it had recorded seven cases of Lassa fever in the state.
The Ondo State government has confirmed an outbreak of Lassa fever in two Local Government Areas (LGA) of the State.
He said, “It is expected; we have already said it, and that is why we are proactive about it to ensure that if anybody has symptoms, they will be detected in good time, enabling us to quickly curtail it”.
“The two laboratories now operational are the Virology laboratory, Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH”.
The commissioner said the student was treated and discharged, while the lady was was still on admission, adding that she was, however, responding to treatment.
Kuden said those that had contact with the suspects were under surveillance.
It identified places where the disease was detected as Owo and Akure North local government areas of the State.
Recall that fresh cases of the Lassa fever disease were recorded in Rivers, Bauchi and Gombe states in August this year.
However, Adeyanju said “there is active surveillance in all our LGAs, much more so when we learnt of the last outbreak in Anambra and Delta states, we felt we were likely to be prone”.
Okoye said the establishment of such laboratories would reduce risks to patients and healthcare workers.
“We took their blood samples to Irruwa Lassa Fever Laboratory, Edo”.

He said Lassa fever could be treated if discovered early.
