Platini Accuses FIFA Ethics Committee Of Witch-Hinting
France’s sports minister Patrick Kanner publicly questioned the legitimacy of FIFA’s ethics committee after it imposed an eight-year ban that seriously endangers fellow-Frenchman Michel Platini’s prospects of becoming the next head of the world football body.

Both are under scrutiny over a 2011 payment of two million Swiss francs ($2 million) made to Platini with Blatter’s approval, for work done 10 years earlier.
Platini has been in charge of Uefa – European football’s governing body – since 2007 and was backed in a statement on Monday, with the organisation saying it was “extremely disappointed” with the decision.
“I’m sure they are on top of it and I’m sure they will get the sport back where we all want it to be”, Bryant said. “Was it sleeping? Suddenly it wakes up”, he said.
However, it was Blatter who claimed in October that an agreement had been made by senior figures in FIFA for the 2018 World Cup to go to Russia – in the vote, England secured only one vote apart from its own member and Russia won easily.
“But in the meantime, my name has been dragged through the mud”, he added.
Platini said he remained determined to continue his quest to become the most powerful man in football. “I’ve been put in the same bag as Blatter”.
“I’m struggling to understand”, Platini said.
Both Platini and Blatter have signalled their intentions to appeal their bans at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland, while Platini also told AFP that he would seek damages in the Swiss courts following his CAS appeal.
“He’s a little more expensive than I am”, Blatter said.
“Whatever happens, my reputation has been sullied, I’ve been kicked in the teeth”. “I did some work, I asked to be paid, I sent an invoice, I was paid, I paid my taxes on that”. But then I’ll take my responsibilities according to what happens.
“There was a debt that was settled, full stop”.
“Fifa has had links with the university for 10 years through its Fifa International Masters in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport”. Then, in 2015, the Swiss court wanted more information.

Even so, the Platini appeal is still in effect, as he tries to get the charges against him dropped so that he can run for Federation Internationale de Football Association president at the February elections to be held in Zurich.
