Player discord behind Jose Mourinho’s exit, reveals Chelsea technical director
There may have been a palpable sense of discord between the players and Mourinho but the timing of this interview seems a little off – particularly when the club had earlier said that there would be no further comment until the appointment of Mourinho’s replacement.

Terry was skipper for both of Mourinho’s spells in charge at Stamford Bridge, together leading Chelsea to a Premier League and League Cup double in the 2014-15 season.
The devil is in the detail of his contract – there may be a clause in there suggesting that if he is dismissed for poor performance, then only a maximum of one season’s salary is payable (approximately £7.5 million for Mourinho).
Mourinho’s exit followed nine defeats in 16 league games this term, results that have caused a shocking descent into the relegation mire.
“We must always be at the top of our games, even when it’s not, and the behaviour has to be better than what we are seeing right now from every single Chelsea player”.
“It is a bad thing for the Premier League”.
We do not know what position the club has taken but if, for example, the employment tribunal were to rule in favour of her discrimination claim, Chelsea would have evidence of gross misconduct on the part of Mourinho – meaning they could fire him without any of the financial penalties.
“All at Chelsea thank Jose for his enormous contribution since he returned as manager in the summer of 2013”.
They criticised the club for a lack of loyalty to a manager who delivered three Premier League titles and numerous other trophies during his two spells in charge.
“The club wishes to make clear Jose leaves us on good terms and will always remain a much-loved, respected and significant figure at Chelsea”.
When Mourinho arrived back at Stamford Bridge following his tenure at Madrid, he called himself “The Happy One” and highlighted his improved relationship with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.
“The club’s focus is now on ensuring our talented squad reaches its potential”.
Chelsea parted company with Mourinho on Thursday after two days of crisis board meetings, with Guus Hiddink the front-runner to slot in as interim boss. The coach’s departure is expected to cost 30 million euros, according to ESPN.
“The culture of the vulture”, he said. I’m speaking about the circumstances that made Brendan [Rodgers] lose his job. “If I didn’t get on with my manager I didn’t give my best”.
“If they change the manager nothing’s going to really change, they’re going to finish mid-table perhaps, so why change the manager?”
