Bermuda Cricketer Jason Anderson has been handed a life ban after being involved in a never seen before on-field brawl.

The fans of game of cricket witnessed an ugly turn of events when in a local match in Bermuda; the batsman nearly knocked the head off the opposition wicket keeper’s shoulder with his bat.

Cleveland player Aaron Adams tries to restrain the batsman, only for Anderson to lash out with a vicious kick at O’Brien’s head. It took Aaron Adams, Anderson’s teammate, to separate the pair.

The Cleveland club president Carlton Smith reportedly ran onto the field and told Anderson to immediately walk off the ground. O’Brien was charged with Level 3 Code of Conduct Breach, one that involves a threat of assault on another player. He’s been banned for a period that will include six 50-over matches.

Speaking after the match, Cleveland captain Allan Douglas said that he was as taken aback by what had happened as the rest of the world, but explained that frustration building up was probably the reason for the fracas.

Cricket is often referred to as the gentleman’s game, but that certainly wasn’t the case when two sides met in Bermuda’s Champion of Champions final on September 12.

Jason Anderson, the 36-year-old wicket-keeper was handed a life ban by his club for the fight on the field. “The executive and members of CCCC do not condone the behaviour of Mr Anderson”, the club said.
