Eric Dier says Spurs can benefit from a bigger pitch when they play their Champions League games at Wembley this season.

Monaco and Tottenham last met in December, when the English outfit claimed a 4-1 win at home in the Europa League.

Wembley is already familiar to a number of the Spurs squad, and England striker Harry Kane is looking forward to a return there with the Lilywhites as they prepare to face the Ligue 1 outfit. The French side will be keen to avoid a repeat when they meet in Wembley.

“In the last few seasons we were fighting to get into the Champions League”.

Mauricio Pochettino: It will be a historic moment for us.

“When you’re a manager in the Premier League you prove if you’re good or not, because the Premier League is the toughest competition in the world”, said Pochettino.

“We feel good at White Hart Lane because it’s our home and we need to feel good at Wembley. That’s the most important thing”. This comes after the North London club began work on a new stadium, which has restricted some access to White Hart Lane and also reduced its capacity to such a degree that it does not meet UEFA guidelines.

“I think Wembley is an advantage”.

“Wembley is a little bit bigger and this can help the teams that play along the grass and keep possession”, Pochettino said.

“You have more space to play, it’s more hard for the opponent to press you when there are more metres to run, but the same for both”.

“It should be quite a close game”, explained Jardim, whose side head Ligue 1 on goal difference from OGC Nice.

Indeed, the Monegasques followed up an underwhelming 2-2 league draw at home against Guingamp on matchday one by beating Nantes, PSG and Lille consecutively(winning 1-4 at Lille last weekend) and they have now won each of their last five consecutive fixtures in all competitions. “We feel good at White Hart Lane because it’s our home and we need to feel good at Wembley”.

In a sense, this group is a better test for Tottenham than one featuring at least a giant and more established team. Hopefully we’ll put in a good performance that will allow us to get on the right path to qualification.
