Sony announced two new PlayStation consoles today at a Times Square event in New York City. It’s a more powerful version of the PS4, capable of playing games in 4K and supporting HDR gaming.

You can preorder the PS4 Pro on Amazon now. Those with 4K TVs should be able to watch the archived footage of those videos to experience the supposed ultra HD glory.

The PS4 Pro is sort of an enhanced Playstation 4, remaining a part of this generation instead of ringing in a new one. Sony previously announced that it anticipated “all or a very large majority of games will also support the high-end PS4”. The new console will feature a 1TB hard drive and double the GPU power, thanks to Sony adapting technology from AMD’s Polaris graphics architecture. The PS4 Pro will however only be launched on November 10.

The PlayStation 4 has already been out for almost three years, so it’s time for a change.

PS4 Pro will also be able to output games in High Dynamic Range (HDR). Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will also take advantage of the PS4 Pro on day-one, as well as Mass Effect: Andromeda. On the bright side, 4k Netflix and YouTube apps are being developed for the PS4 Pro, so it won’t totally be devoid of 4k video playback. But there’s no incentive at all for current PS4 owners to upgrade to this console.

Gartner Analyst Jon Erensen noted that there was “not a lot of discussion” about the benefits of upgrading to the PlayStation Pro for gamers who already own a PS4. It’s thinner, supports HDR and comes in black, but does still have an external power supply.
