PlayStation 4 Pro doesn’t support Ultra HD Blu-ray discs

AMD is still providing the core CPU architecture for the PS4 Pro. Their claim is that the Xbox One S console can actually play 4K blurays seamlessly whereas PS4 Slim and the even the Pro can’t play it as it doesn’t have the capability to do so.

On the other hand, Sony has officially announced its PlayStation 4 Pro and PlayStation 4 Slim.

Not only is Sony pushing the idea of 4K gaming, like their competitor Microsoft with the Xbox Scorpio, but they are also pushing HDR gaming.

“When the PlayStation 4 Pro launches on 10th November 2016, The Elder Scrolls Online will be immediately playable in native 4K resolution, whether purchased new, or with existing game discs”, Bethesda says. Although many developers will bring graphical improvements to their games, some PS4 games won’t support the PS4 Pro in a meaningful way.

The powerful new PS4 Pro gaming console is being marketed by Sony as a 4K gaming box. Sony also pointed out that all games will support 4K, but not all will support 4K and HDR at the same time. “When comparing the new PS4 model to the current model, we’ve reduced volume by 30%, weight by 16%, and power consumption by 28%”, Andrew House, Chief Executive of Sony Interactive Entertainment, said.

“We know a lot of our fans watch movies, TV shows, and videos on their PS4, so we’re working with our partners who offer best-in-class streaming services to build new apps for PS4 Pro”, said House. The console will be available for purchase worldwide with effect from November 10, 2016: with it cost in the USA to be $399.
