Sony has announced backward compatibility for the PS4 Pro, which means customers who own a PS4 will be able to play their existing games on the new gaming console.
“Even if you own an HDTV that does not support either 4K or HDR, PS4 Pro still provides a number of benefits”. Rather, the specific in-game differences between the Pro and the standard PS4 will differ from game to game. During the event, the gaming console maker showed off Watch Dogs 2 for the PS4 Pro.
The PlayStation Pro [pictured above, bottom] will cost $400 and go on sale November 10, in time for the holiday shopping season.
Incremental updates like this are pretty new to video game systems.
Moreover, he added the console looks different from what Project Scorpio actually is, a “sequel” and not just an upgrade (despite Microsoft didn’t talk about opening a new generation, similarly to Sony yesterday).
If you already have a PS4, the upgrade will come at a big price considering all the games you get will also be playable on your old machine, but it may be worth it for some (especially those with 4K HDR TVs). What would make you take the ultra-HD plunge? Both Sony and Microsoft have things working in their favor here, but it’ll be interesting to see if all of this leads to even more success for Sony or perhaps a leveling out effect that brings the Xbox One to new heights.
The PS4 Pro will have better processing power in comparison to its predecessor. In addition, both the new PlayStations as well as the original PS4 will now support games in High Dynamic Resolution.

PlayStation 4 Pro owners won’t be the only ones getting in on the graphical upgrades, though. It is just really, really smaller than the PS4.
