At the moment, hundreds of game developers are creating and perfecting new VR titles for PlayStation VR and it is possible that by October, more than a hundred titles will be available for purchase. Early adopters will receive a free copy of “The Playroom VR”, a bundle of six games. However, it will not contain a camera or joystick movement recognition, yet necessary for its operation in some games. And this will be the first of 50 games Sony has promised to release this year. It is set to ship on March 28 in 20 countries, including the U.S. The Oculus Rift will cost $599 and require a high-end PC with a graphics card. Additionally, DICE and Lucasfilm are working on an all-new Star Wars Battlefront gaming experience only for PS VR.
Sony’s PlayStation VR headset will feature a Cinematic Mode where users can stream Netflix and play PS4 games for a more immersive experience.
Andrew House, head of Sony’s gaming division, said the company wanted the highly anticipated headset to come out at a price point that would encourage quick and widespread adoption.
We’re just a few weeks out from the consumer arrival of two major VR systems, the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
Sony announced recently that their Playstation virtual-reality headset dubbed Playstation VR would be launching this October at $399. “They are cheaper, but I think it’s a totally fair price and they’ve definitely done a good job of keeping the cost down”.
