Nothing adds more drama than sinister sounding orchestral music, and McCreary’s crew did not disappoint. The series has taken a bit of change in direction, with Kratos now living in seclusion in the land of Norse mythology (because hey, when you’ve killed all the Greek gods, why not enter a different mythos) with a new, magical axe, a lumberjack beard and son to keep him company.
Before you ask, there will be plenty of PS4 games ready by the time PlayStation VR launches, with Sony partners having created around 50 titles for virtual reality. But, looking at the trailer it seems that VR-enabled interactions in FFXV is going to be “gun heavy”, with the VR player attacking enemies with a revolver in a first person perspective, before occasionally jumping out of that view as if on a selfie stick to view their protagonist wearing a PlayStation VR headset.

I’m not sure the idea of taking Kratos so seriously plays to the strengths of the character, who is best when he’s blowing his top and indulging in antic splatter, but the game looked attractive and many seem to think a change of pace is needed. The latest installment will let players create their own Skylanders with a slew of insane customisation options. Spoiler alert, they all look pretty impressive.
