At the moment, the PlayStation VR solution does not have an attached price or a launch date but given that the Oculus Rift is now taking pre-orders Sony might move fast to make its announcements in the coming weeks. As the headsets become more reality than concept, the possibilities seem endless.
The cost of entry could be tipping further in Sony’s favor, especially when considering the fact that any of the current 36 million people who already own a PlayStation 4 are able to use the PlayStation VR headset right out of the box.
According to Hirai, Sony already has 200 developers on board to produce games for the PlayStation VR platform as many third-party game developers have shown interest and support for the tech, and those developers are collectively working on over 100 video game titles.
Hirai said that there is a lot of developer support for the device and he’s unfazed about the buzz surrounding both Vive and Oculus Rift.
