The games console and technology giant first unveiled its VR system in 2014 under the name Project Morpheus, and is powered by connecting to the PlayStation 4 console. PlayStation VR would be making its debut this October, which would make it the last to show up in the VR field this year. As per Riccitiello the available content is limited and a little rough, till the week’s conference teams with developers working on VR games.

The $500 PlayStation launch bundle will include the following things: the PlayStation VR headset; PlayStation VR cables; PlayStation VR Demo Disc; PlayStation VR Worlds (disc); PlayStation Camera; Stereo Headphones; and 2 PlayStation Move Controllers. And while on the subject of requirements, you’re going to want PlayStation Move controllers in most circumstances when utilizing PSVR.

PlayStation VR’s $399 price point is $200 cheaper than the Oculus Rift and $400 cheaper than the HTC Vive, both of which will be available in late March or early April.

With 2016 set to be the year for virtual reality to hit the market, Sony took to the stage at games event GDC to reveal new details of its PlayStation VR headset. Andrew House said the main reason Sony omitted camera from the headset was that most PS4 owners already own the camera.

It is also worth noting that the current PlayStation 4 devices also support 4K resolution, but they can only show it for movies, and not for the games. The core PlayStation VR bundle won’t be available for pre-order, so that $399 United States dollars or $549 CAD you’ve been saving up will have to wait.
