Plenty of events will mark Memorial Day
The Medford Fire Department is hosting their annual Memorial Day parade beginning at 11 a.m.at Tremont Avenue School and ending at Medford Memorial Park with a ceremony to follow. At 8 a.m. the flag will be raised at Wood Memorial Park with a salute by the American Legion and Auxiliary.

Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Middle School and continue to the Leon R. Roberts Post 161 on Depot Street, where a ceremony and refreshments will take place.
The cemetery hosts an annual Memorial Day service on Monday to honor the ultimate sacrifices given by the veterans buried there.
BRANCHVILLE – The Private Peter S. Hotalen Post No. 157 of the American Legion, Branchville, will hold its Memorial Day parade at 10 a.m. The parade will continue onto McConnelsville’s Main Street to the Village Square, where a wreath will be placed on the Civil War Memorial.
FALMOUTH: Parade begins at 10 a.m.at the American Legion Post at 65 Depot Road and proceeds to Foreside Road and south to Pine Grove Park for ceremonies, including performances by the Falmouth Middle and High School bands and choruses. The parade will conclude with a somber ceremony honoring those who have answered the call to service. At 9:30 a.m. Monday, a ceremony and parade begins at the Westmoreland Town Green and ends at the Westmoreland Cemetery.
Cities and towns across the United States host Memorial Day parades each year, often incorporating military personnel and members of veterans’ organizations. 10 a.m. Monday, Orange County Courthouse, 425 N. Orange Ave., Orlando, free, 407-836-7370. Parade will return to Legion Hall via Main Street and Beach streets. The parade participants will then place a wreath at the WWI Doughboy Memorial and the Desert Storm Memorial. An additional ceremony will follow at the Korean Vietnam Memorial. Each of the ceremonies will feature a bugler playing Taps, a 21-gun salute and a chaplain offering a prayer.
A shuttle will be available at 12:30 p.m.at the Elks Lodge to take people to the cemetery for the 1 p.m. service and dedication.
Memorial Day is for USA armed forces veterans who have died, says Richard Dunbar, commander of American Legion Post 18.
