Plushy Minions act as faulty cover for cocaine deliveries
In news that will rival that Dolph Lundgren starring in Kindergarten Cop 2 report for the most freakish story of the day, the New York City authorities have busted a massive drug ring that was using Minions and Frozen toys, among others, to smuggle huge amounts of cocaine into Manhattan. NYPD One shipment was covered in pink birthday wrapping paper and put in a gift bag with a stuffed Olaf doll from the Disney movie “Frozen”.

The alleged ringleader, Alberto Fortosa, 24, arranged for the shipment of packages from Puerto Rico to New York. The cocaine was hidden in wireless Internet router boxes within the packages, most of which also contained a stuffed Olaf doll.
In the weeks leading up to Fortosa’s arrest, inspectors for the U.S. Postal Service intercepted a total of five packages in a route to Fortosa from Puerto Rico, containing five kilograms of cocaine valued at $225,000.
Detectives knew Santana was the alleged club dealer at the outset of the investigation, and court-authorized wiretaps enabled police to identify Reyes as a supply source for Santana, according to prosecutors.
The suspects sold $41,000 worth of drugs to undercover NYPD Vice Squad officers throughout 20 occasions since the start of the investigation in Septembers, prosecutors said.
For the heroin, cocaine, MDMA and marijuana his drug ring distributed, Fortosa is thought to have been at the “top of the food chain”.
Among the 71-count indictment charges for some or all of the suspects are conspiracy, criminal sale and possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest. All four all pled not guilty to the charges. Bail for Fortosa was set at $250,000 while the others were remanded pending bail arguments.
According to a press release from the New York City Special Narcotics Prosecutor, Minions aren’t just good for pairing with unrelated slogans and posting to Facebook.
