Sahibzada Tariqullah of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) said Pakistan should play its due role in defusing tension between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Soon after landing at the air base, targetted exactly a week ago in a pre-dawn attack, Modi met senior Indian Air Force (IAF) and army officers.

The six terrorists who stormed the airbase and fended off security forces until January 5 were all eventually killed.

India had linked the foreign secretary level talks to Pakistan’s action against the militants.

After the attack, Modi is said to have clearly told Sharif that India wants immediate, concrete action against the mastermind of the air base terror attack.

Officials had previously said that the shared information included intercepts of telephone calls made by militants to their alleged handlers and the locations of the numbers which they (militants) had called in Pakistan.

“The comprehensive dialogue will include all outstanding issues, including the Jammu and Kashmir dispute”, Aziz said.

Air Force Chief Arup Raha and National Security Guard officials briefed the prime minister about the attack and the counter-offensive launched against the perpetrators.

Seven security personnel were killed in the attack on the IAF base in Pathankot.

At a second high-level meeting on Friday, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif reiterated his country’s commitment to cooperate with India on investigating the attack.

The US said it encourages an “aggressive” approach to counter-terrorism operations by Pakistan and other regional powers, Kirby said, and expressed willingness to support such operations as required or deemed fit by those nations.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday put the ball in Pakistan’s court, saying the future course of action would be decided after Islamabad’s response to actionable intelligence provided with regard to the fidayeen strike.
