PM directs to speed up relief work in Chitral
Flash floods triggered by cloudburst have inundated several parts of Pakistan ranging from the Chitral valley in the country’s north to parts of southern Punjab and the mountainous areas of Balochistan.

As reported by a government statement, Sharif wanted to visit the flood-affected area in Chitral but could not fly due to bad weather.
In view of the losses and difficulties being suffered by the rain-affected peoples of Chitral, the chief minister asked the Communication and Works (C&W) and Public Health Engineering department chief engineers to reach Chitral as early as possible to support the district administration for immediate restoration of the affected roads, bridges, water supply schemes and other basic facilities. Several parts of Punjab province were also affected. She said that district administration Hafizabad has made all arrangements to shift the people from flood areas, to safer places and 9 flood relief centers have been set up in case of flood in the River Chenab.

Abdul Aziz Soomro, the in-charge of the control room at Sukkur Barrage, said that a medium-level flood was passing through Guddu Barrage while a low-level flood was passing through Sukkur Barrage.
Official sources reported that the inflow of water at Guddu barrage was 353,000 cusecs while water discharge was 326,000 cusecs this morning.
The NDMA has already started its activities in the flood-hit areas. Nine vehicles were also rescued. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has directed the Deputy Commissioner to evacuate people from the Katcha area of river Indus.
The Chief Minister stressed upon the people of Katcha areas of Larkana and Sukkur divisions to evacuate the Katcha areas for their own safety.
He directed the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to accelerate its relief and rehabilitation operations in close coordination with the Pakistan Army and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
While 12 persons including two children were killed and four others injures in rain related incidents in Lahore, Thatta and Chitral on Saturday and Monday.

As said by PDMA, the district administration of Chitral has started restoration of cut-off sites from limited available resources and the deputy commissioner has been authorized to utilize the relief fund for relief activities.
