“I have been questioned, I have faced criticism and accusations over last 14 years”. When BJP lawmakers protested, Mr Gandhi replied: “I said Gandhi is ours, Veer Savarkar is yours, am I wrong?”

Rahul had also alleged that Modi went ahead to sign the much-publicised Naga Peace Accord by keeping Home Minister Rajnath Singh in the dark.

“There may be conflict of thoughts in Parliament, there may be angst, but it needs to be expressed”. Nobody is spared in discussions and none should expect any. “Then what will happen to us”, he said to the cheers from the treasury benches. “I strongly condemn Shri Rahul Gandhi’s attempt to mislead the House”, Singh tweeted. It is necessary to weed out middlemen from the system. This is to strengthen the foundation of our democracy. “Guided by our core values, we are working towards achieving this goal with sincerity”, Modi said while addressing an International Conference on Rule of Law for supporting the 2030 Development Agenda.

Admitting he is new to Parliament while the opposition is brimming with veterans, Modi appealed for an atmosphere of trust.

Mr. Modi quoted former Congress Prime Ministers such as Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi to take jibes at Mr. Gandhi and his methods. “We know why this Government is targeting JNU… because 40% students come from families whose income is below Rs 6,000”.

Similarly, he suggested that a day or two be set apart in each session when only first-time Members would be invited to speak. These lofty ideals were expressed by our first PM Jawaharlal Nehru in 1957.

-In 1974, in IP College, Indira Gandhi ji said that we should not portray our nation as weak.

The AICC leader also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of trying to impose one ideology on the people and said that they want to spread hatred and make every Indian fight against one another in the country.

“Why is this House not been let to function?”

Parliament is not being allowed to function because of an inferiority complex. “Come, let us work together for the country”, he said.

The previous government had sown the seeds of poverty in the country, he said.

“We are mocking things like Make in India?” We conducted Panchayat elections, created self-help groups, which generated employment.

He further added that according to the CAG report, maximum benefit of the scheme was reaped by states having low number of poor people, while the ones with high number of poor did not benefit from the scheme.
