PM Modi hits out at Cow Vigilantes, bats for Dalits in India
“This is not an acceptable situation”, said the advisory, which came just two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi had, over the weekend, spoken out twice forcefully against vigilante groups which had resorted to violence against Dalits, Muslims and others in the name of protecting cows and preventing the consumption of beef.

Describing these self-styled cow protectors as anti-social elements, Modi said, “If you have to shoot, shoot me, but not my Dalit brothers”.
He was emphasizing the never ending attacks on the people from the Dalit community and also mentioned to provide strict laws to be acted upon the culripts if found guilty. If you want to shoot, shoot me and not Dalits. “This game should stop”.
Taking a stern action against cow vigilantism, the Home Ministry on Tuesday asked states and union territories not to tolerate any incidents of attack on individuals in the name of protecting cow.
“Then alone can we take the nation to great heights”, the Prime Minister said after inaugurating a host of development projects. “There should be no tolerance at all for such persons and full majesty of law must come to bear on them, without exception”, it added.
“It is a social problem and it has been plaguing us for centuries”. Apart from global criticism, he said even within the country there was hue and cry in the society against the sins of these cow-Rakhshaks that led Modi to break his shameful silence.
Modi made it clear that discrimination on the basis of language and caste will not be allowed. “If you had agreed about the merits of GST earlier, it would have been implemented long back and the country would have benefited long back”, he said.
Today, Prime Minister Modi arrived at Gajwel in the Medak district on his maiden visit to Telangana to lay the foundation stones for Central government and six state projects in the state. numerous projects are in the remote area of the state Telangana. “These handful of vigilantes have nothing to do with cow protection, but want to create “tanaav” (tension) and “takrav” (conflict) in our society”.
Though numerous cow protection groups are affiliated to the RSS, the parent organization of the ruling BJP, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently lashed out at the groups terming them anti-social.
On Saturday, he asked state governments to take action against “anti-social elements who masquerade as cow protectors to save themselves”.
“To fulfil it all countrymen should protect and serve cows (gau raksha and gau seva karein). Such service enhances national wealth.it does not create problem for the nation”. “These people are hell bent on destroying the society and are disturbed by the unity of India”. There is a need to punish these people. “We are laying foundation stone of how BJP will make Telangana’s future bright and take the state to new heights”, said the Prime Minister, reports IANS.

The Indian Express also reported that the Gujarat unit of the VHP had issued the following statement: “Thousands of butchers killing one lakh cows every year are not termed “goondas” and gau rakshaks like Gita Rambhiya are termed “goondas”. “There is no subsidy for farmers or for rearing cattle, but the Congress gives subsidy to those who slaughter cows”, he had said at the time.
