Addressing a massive rally at Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh to mark two years of his government at the Centre, Modi hit out at the previous UPA government for “looting” public money and claimed that during the two years of his regime, there was no single charge of corruption.

“I have actually undertaken the maximum reforms”, Modi said.

The home minister also said India and Pakistan had agreed that a joint investigation team from the neighbouring country will visit Pathankot while NIA officials would go to Pakistan. On the occasion, a colorful cultural programme was also presented. “This vanvas from UP politics must end and there should be BJP government in the state”.

Soon after forming the government in Assam, the BJP floated a new North-East Development Alliance and appointed former Congressman and now BJP minister Himanta Biswas Sarma as its convener.

The Modi government had infused hope across all sectors after, he alleged, the UPA’s 10-year-rule left behind empty treasury, policy paralysis, demoralised bureaucracy, despondent masses and a state of hopelessness.

Shah had said on Wednesday that the Samajwadi Party government’s “corruption and misgovernance” will be his party’s main issues besides development.

“The government has started work to provide gas connections to six crore people by 2019”, he said. Yet, the people polled picked that as Modi government’s best initiative.

Modi’s announcement came after he appealed to doctors to serve poor pregnant women for free on each ninth day of every month, saying it will contribute to his government’s efforts to deal with illness among the poor. “You can’t suddenly get rid of the public sector, nor should you”, he said.

That is why, Modi said, his government was observing “vikas parv” (festival of development) and all his ministers would travel across the country to give to the people an account of their work.
