After his visit to the U.S., it was Mr Modi’s first bilateral meeting with Mr Obama.

“Two democracies and a defining partnership of our era!”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday left for home after a two-day visit to Laos during which he attended ASEAN-India and East Asia Summits and held five bilateral meetings including one with US President Barack Obama. Modi leaves for New Delhi in the evening. “I believe that wherever President Obama goes, he will continue to promote the importance of partnerships between Asean and the United States”, Jokowi said. “For us a terrorist is a terrorist”, PM Modi said in yet another speech that was openly targeted at Pakistan on an important worldwide forum.

The Prime Minister also noted that growing radicalism through the ideology of hatred and spread of extreme violence are the other security threats. Both leaders reviewed the immediate priorities in the strategic partnership.

Obama is scheduled to address a news conference in Laos immediately after his meeting with Modi. The two consecutive attacks by PM Narendra Modi on worldwide forums assume significance at a time when the Modi government has said that it is time to expose Pakistan’s atrocities in the areas of PoK and Balochistan. “PM meets President Obama”, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted with pictures of the two leaders. They met for the first time at the White House in September 2014 and recently held talks on the margins of the G20 Summit in China on Sunday.
