Pakistan is also being inducted into the SCO as a full member.
The president while expressing pleasure on membership of the SCO said that Pakistan believes the organization will make joint efforts towards peace and stability of the region.
Within SCO, India will be a productive partner in building strong trade, transport, energy, digital & people-to-people links.
In addition, the Chinese president noted, the organization has actively reached out to others with an ever-growing circle of friends.
President Mamnoon Hussain has said that Pakistan aims to further strengthen its relations with the SCO after becoming a full member.
Fourthly, it also needs to enhance culture and people-to-people foundation as a bridge for future development, Xi said.
Pakistan on Friday signed the memorandum of obligations to become a full member of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) – a key security, economy and energy cooperation group comprising Russia, China and the countries of Central Asia.
The heads of state agreed that the next SCO summit will be held in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana as Kazakhstan will take over the SCO rotating presidency from Uzbekistan.
“The Russian position is clear in its support of initiating the SCO admission process (for Iran) without delays, if possible”, Bakhtiyor Khakimov, a special SCO envoy of Russian President Vladimir Putin, told reporters as leaders of the bloc’s member countries met in Uzbekistan.
The President is leading the Pakistan delegation to the SCO Summit.

SCO was founded at a summit in Shanghai in 2001 by the Presidents of Russia, China, Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
