PM Modi’s comments on Balochistan an expression of concern for Baloch people

During his speech, Modi accused Pakistan of supporting and glorifying terrorism, while calling on Islamabad to worry about its affairs instead of interfering in internal matters of other countries.

New Delhi asked Islamabad to end incitement to violence and terrorism from Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir, stop cross-border terrorism, detain and prosecute terrorists like Masood Azhar and Hafiz Saeed, deny a safe haven to fugitives like Mumbai underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and close terror camps where terrorists like Bahadur Ali have been trained.

“People of Pakistan have been victim of Indian spy agency’s sabotaging activities”.

He mentioned that people of Balochistan and Karachi had suffered due to the activities of Indian intelligence activities.

On senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh’s comments referring to Kashmir as “India-occupied Kashmir”, Yogi said Singh’s reaction reflected the values of his party.

In 1948, the United Nations told both countries to resolve the issue through peaceful means by letting the people of Kashmir decide through a referendum which country they want to join.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein in a statement issued in Geneva on Wednesday said it was unfortunate that honest attempts by the UN to independently assess the facts in relation to reports of human rights violations in both Indian side of Kashmir and Pak side had failed.

Reports said meeting of all political parties in India presided over by Prime Minister Modi this week dismissed the UN Human Rights Commission’s request to visit the Indian held Kashmir.

He said that his party along with all the democratic forces of Pakistan have condemned the outrageous remarks of Modi and asked him to allow the right of self-determination to the people of Kashmir under United Nations aegis instead of dilly-dallying and prolonging the issue. At the moment, India is on defensive because of world-wide negative coverage of atrocities of its forces against Kashmiris and a crippling ban on coverage of the situation by media. This record began with the Government of Pakistan sending armed raiders into Jammu and Kashmir in 1947 and was repeated in 1965.

Zakaria said Prime Minister Sharif will lead the official delegation at the General Assembly session.

The spokesman said most of the UN Security Council members had already been taken onboard on the continued violation of human rights in Kashmir.

“Without access, we can only fear the worst”, Zeid added.

India divulged the details of the letter from Foreign Secretary Jaishankar on Thursday even as Pakistan hit back saying that the latest statements on Balochistan from India “crossed a red line”.
