“Even more important than what we face is how we respond to the threat”, he said.
“The Prime Minister is going to raise this issue strongly seeking establishment of banking channels between both countries under the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA)”.
Singapore, on the other hand, is also pushing other members of the ASEAN, such as Indonesia, Cambodia and the Philippines, to expedite the ratification process of the India-ASEAN services trade pact.
Wadhwa said the core of the Asean-India Partnership was economic.
Prime Minister of India outlined that G 20 nations should focus on the effective implementation of sustainable development agenda 2030 and ensure adequate funding for it.
With regard to the East Asia Summit, he said India attaches a lot of importance to it.
This includes the inauguration of the Torana Gate which was launched in 2010 by Modi’s predecessor, Manmohan Singh.
Briefing the media about the visit, Secretary (East) with the Ministry of External Affairs Anil Wadhwa said Singapore has approximately 3,50,000-strong Indian diaspora out of its total population of 5.5 million.
G20 leaders in their communique said that they are committed to building a global culture of “intolerance towards corruption” through effectively implementing the 2015-2016 G20 Anti-Corruption Action Plan.
Mr. Modi will have a breakfast meeting with Singapore businessmen the next morning.
“Singapore is a leading investor in India and several Indian companies are expanding their operations to Singapore”, he said.
Speaking at the G20 summit, Modi also pitched for snapping the supply of arms and finance to terrorists.
According to the Singapore government, the strategic partnership would enhance cooperation in areas such as the promotion of investments, urban solutions, smart cities, water and waste management, and skill development. European Council President Donald Tusk said Russian Federation should focus its military operations on Islamic State rather than on the Syrian opposition battling President Bashar al-Assad, urging cooperation between Washington and Moscow.
On the sidelines of the the two summits, Modi is expected to hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of Japan, China and Malaysia and possibly those of Vietnam and Myanmar.
