PM Modi salutes former President Kalam on his 84th birth anniversary

Modi said, “Today, we salute Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and celebrate his monumental achievements, as a scientist, scholar & the President of India”.
Kalam died of a massive cardiac arrest on July 27 this year in Meghalaya.
“There are two types of people, one who look for opportunities and the other who look for challenges”.
As part of the anniversary celebration, a scientific seminar on “Science and Humanism for National Development” was also organised remembering Kalam’s contribution to science and his objective of social development.
He mentioned several vital sectors where innovation was essential, including cyber-security, housing for all, river-linking, enhancing agricultural productivity, blue economy, and “zero-defect, zero-effect” manufacturing. Rao recalled how Kalam demonstrated India’s defence capabilities before world and was rightly conferred “Bharat Ratna” even as he rose to become President of the country. The Prime Minister announced a memorial in Kalam’s memory at his birthplace in Tamil Nadu’s Rameswaram.
India’s defence exports could exceed Rs.1,200 crore this year, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said, hinting at a doubling as compared to the last fiscal. Sri Ramakrishna Math (Chennai) manager Swami Vimurthananda, said Kalam had lived according to the ideologies of Swami Vivekananda.
Sisodia further said as per Kalam, the focus should be on “skill based education”.
