“The more we work together in new areas, the better it is for the benefit of the world as well as our two countries, which our dream”, the Prime Minister said.
The TIP report ranks India as a Tier 2 country which means the government has not fully complied with US standards but is making significant efforts to meet those standards.
Narendra Modi has expressed support for the enactment this year of a worldwide climate accord reached in Paris, the White House said on Tuesday.
This is the Prime Minister’s fourth visit to the U.S. in the last two years.
Modi’s address to Congress on Tuesday, the fifth by an Indian Prime Minister, represents a “real moment of triumph” for someone who was denied entry into the United States for over a decade, Vaishnav says. He also met Attorney General Loretta Lynch during a ceremony marking the repatriation of more than 200 artifacts to the Indian government.
“As world’s two largest democracies and with strong bonds between peoples and businesses, scientific and educational communities, it is natural that the U.S. and India deepen and broaden our partnership across the whole range of issues”, the President said.
Modi “transcends the ancient and the modern”, Obama wrote in Time magazine.
“We have seen, in recent years, greater and closer coordination between USA and Indian national security officials”. We will continue to work together in the future too.
Before US, Modi was in Switzerland where he sought to enhance bilateral ties.
“Today’s announcement signals that the US and India are overcoming the few remaining differences between them”. Indian Ambassador to the US Arun K Singh, Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar, US Ambassador to India Richard Verma and Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Nisha Desai Biswal were also present on the occasion.
In many ways it’s about respect.
It centered on the activities of New York-based art dealer Subhash Kapoor, who is now awaiting trial in India on charges of looting tens of millions of dollars’ worth of rare antiquities from several nations, authorities said.
In his Twitter post, Modi said “I arrived in historic Herat province, will inaugurate the Salma Dam and meet President Ghani”.
