He, however, said that a delegation to be sent will have to wait before some normalcy is restored in the valley where over 55 people have died and thousands injured in a month of unrest following a militant commander’s killing on July 8. Giving figures he said that 4515 security personnel had been injured in the volence as against 3356 civilians after the first flush of violence.

Singh praised all parties for speaking in unison on Kashmir during the “high quality” discussion, saying it reflects the spirit of healthy democracy.

“The law and order is not the sole responsibility of the Kashmir Police.the paramilitary forces are also involved”. “People in Kashmir are following separatist dictates”, he said.

He said Jammu and Kashmir issue is complex political problem and should be dealt accordingly. “His room is barely a minute from both the Houses… earlier PMs would rush to the House if there was a pressing discussion on any issue, but this prime minister has not attended”.

He also appealed to Kashmir residents to stop anyone raising anti-India slogans.

He said it hurts to see stones in the hands of young people. “But immediate steps will be taken to ensure peace”, he said.
