The plant belonging to the Fertiliser Corporation India Ltd (FCIL) has been lying idle since 1990s.

The PM said, “It would be wrong to say that work of a factory which was closed for 26 years has been started because of me”. Modi accused the Samajwadi Party government of not utilising the funds the Centre has provided for the health sector in the state.

Addressing a public meeting on the occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said development of eastern parts of the country is essential for the overall development of the country.

“I have given Rs 7,000 crore to the state”.

He credited the new projects to Bharatiya Janata Party’s Lok Sabha member from Gorakhpur, Yogi Adityanath, and said he respected Yogi because he has fought and worked hard for development in this area.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said it was simply unacceptable that fertilizer plants in the country remained shut and youth did not have jobs, on the one hand, even as fertilizer is imported from overseas to meet the needs of the agriculture sector.

Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar accompanied Modi at the event held inside the temple premises.

PM also said, “Our saints and seers are very noble and have always been compassionate towards society and the poor”.

“The revitalisation of these plants would help generate 1.27 million tonne per annum of urea along with other associated chemicals from each plant, bridging the demand supply gap of urea”, it said.

Earlier on May 16, NTPC and CIL had formally inked a pact to set up a joint venture firm “Hindustan Urvarak Rasayan Ltd” that would look into the revival of the fertiliser plant. The balance is met through imports.
