PM Nawaz to address 21st Climate Change Conference on Monday

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Saturday that transformation in climate has a solemn menace to human beings of the world.

Sharif made the remarks during his meeting with British PM David Cameron on the sidelines of Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). He called for provision of the latest technology and other resources for implementation of decisions during the conference in letter and spirit.

The Pakistan Prime Ministers remarks come a day after NC Patron Dr. Farooq Abdullah re-iterated that it would not be possible for India to get back part of Kashmir that is with Pakistan.

“Pakistan has adopted a national climate change policy and has prepared framework for implementation besides integrating climate friendly policies in national economic and development planning”, he said.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to arrive in Paris on Sunday (today) to attend historic 21st UN Climate Change Conference that will formally begin on Monday. Malta is the only country to host the Heads of Government Meeting for the second time in a decade.

Pakistan, through the Commonwealth platform, has sent a clear message across the globe that it is committed to address the global challenges including terrorism and climate change to make the world a better and peaceful place to live. “I am personally leading the National Task Force on Polio Eradication”, he said.

Nawaz Sharif said a network of anti-polio health workers has been formed.

Cameron lauded Pakistan’s efforts in eradication of militancy and extremism.

The Commonwealth Youth Council is the official representative of more than one point two billion young people in 53 member countries of the Commonwealth.
