Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, has certainly the most challenging jobs in the country, and keeps up to the gruelling schedule that belies his age.
To ensure deeper economic engagement, India is pushing for a Free Trade Agreement with the Eurasian Economic Zone and is sharing with Russian Federation details of a study it conducted in this regard.
Meanwhile, Abdul Gani Bhat, head of Muslim Conference, a constituent of the moderate Hurriyat faction, said his party supports the resumption of dialogue process between India and Pakistan.
PM Modi’s visit to Moscow for the 16th annual bilateral summit must be seen not only as exercise in energising a traditional partnership but also as an effort to use ties with Russian Federation to advance India’s manufacturing aspirations, apart from shared concerns on security and terrorism.
Putin presented the items to Modi while hosting the latter for a private dinner on Wednesday evening. It’s the first trip to the country by an Indian head of state in a decade – and could be a sign of improving relations between the two neighbors.
Putin and Modi are participating in a two-day summit – talks are expected to focus on defense, nuclear and space cooperation.
“We believe that India is a great power that conducts a balanced and responsible foreign policy and is one of the most worthy candidates for taking the seat of a permanent member on the U.N. Security Council”, Putin said.
The documents call for cooperation between Russian and Indian companies in offshore and onshore exploration and production of hydrocarbons in Russia.
“I completely reject External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj’s claim that this visit is statesman like”.
He was supposed to step forward and stand at attention for the playing of the national anthems of India and Russian Federation, but he thought he was supposed to inspect the troops and started walking. In the presence of President Putin, Modi stressed that India wants more co-operation from Russian Federation in different sectors, although the two countries have been co-operating in the global and political arenas more actively for years. Tomorrow we also mark the birthday of Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The ties between India and Pakistan have witnessed some positive developments, however, after a chill of several months.
