PM’s visit will be a turning point in J&K’s history: Sayeed

The chief minister, who has come under scathing criticism for allying with the right-wing party, said the coalition was forged after “thoughtful consideration”, “I took a calibrated decision to opt for BJP in the larger interests of all the three distinct regions of the state”.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today called on PrimeMinister Narendra Modi, who is slated to visit the state on November 7.

“While Mufti must be content with the sheer benevolence and patronage of the RSS and the BJP and the imminent game of conjuring figures in non-existent fund assistances that are routine, thousands of flood victims have real, desperate needs that can not be sidelined based on Mufti’s personal political priorities”.

Urging India and Pakistan to shun confrontation and engage in a meaningful dialogue, Sayeed said the state is the first casualty of tension between the two countries. “Now that he is coming, a few things need to be said and done as well”, he added.

He said the fact is that PDP continues to be in the apologetic servitude of the BJP and RSS purely and only to satiate the Muftis’ unending quest for power.

“Earlier, I had sounded an alarm that PDP had surrendered political and institutional sanctity of the Chief Minister’s Office to the RSS and that the state’s capital for all practical purposes had been shifted to Nagpur (RSS headquarters)”, said Mr Abdullah.

The Chief Minister, whereas addressing a public assembly right here, cited a number of situations the place the Centre prolonged wholehearted help in core sectors linked to connectivity, healthcare, schooling and rural improvement.

It was not immediately clear whether he would be inaugurating the power project through a remote control from Jammu or Chanderkote or visit the location, the sources said. “The mask has fallen and how”.

In a related development, Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar has served a notice to pro-Pakistan separatist and Chairman of hardline Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani to refrain from taking out any rally during the Prime Minister’s visit as he proposes to do.
